Congo (1995)

Is bongo.  Despite a formidable array of talent both before and behind  
the camera, this dumbed-downed version of the Michael Crichton best-
seller never really comes together.  The elements are all there, but 
nothing gels.  (I was reminded of last summer's MAVERICK.)  There are 
too many subplots, and nobody seems to know exactly which end is up. 
The result is film that's neither awful nor exciting.  Just boring.
