Paulie (1998)

PAULIE is an odd bird, a cute, sometimes clever talking-bird-that-
talks-back family comedy, trapped inside a glum, sluggish, episodic
drama that's guaranteed to put both kids *and* their parents to
sleep. Jay Mohr (not Joe Pesci, who he sounds like) voices the
title character and he has one memorable moment-- a priceless (but
brief) monologue about "pie." (Please send, if you transcribed or
have a copy of the script.) I can't recommend the movie, but the
moment's great. With a whole bunch of folks, including Buddy Hack-
ett, Gena Rowlands, Cheech Marin, and Tony Shalhoub. Directed by
John Roberts, with seamless (though relatively few) animatronic
effects by Stan Winston. (Rated "PG"/91 min.)
