RALEIGH - Aftermath of structure fire at 5305 Six Forks Road. Engine 9 arriving at Six Forks Road EMS station,
a one-story, concrete-block building with two bays and 1,677 square-feet. Built 1962. Ambulance inside bay
with fully-involved engine compartment fire spreading into the vehicle. Engine 9 caught its own hydrant on the opposite side of Six Forks Road.
Fire quickly contained. Extensive overhaul on roof, as crews checked for extension. Two paramedics inside structure
self-evacuated without injuries. Both lanes of Six Forks Road closed for over an hour. Cause determined as accidental
due to unspecified mechanical failure in the engine compartment. Dispatched
12:42 p.m. Controlled 12:58 p.m. Units on scene included: E9, E4, E15, E16, L1, L2, R1, B1, B4, A1, C10, C20, C40, EMS 5, EMS 6, EMS 31,
