RALEIGH - House fire at 4400 Oakshyre Way. Engine 27 arriving at a 1 1/2-story, wood-frame dwelling
with 1,923 square-feet. Built 1995. Dispatched as working fire while units were en route, due to reports of
smoke and fire showing. Smoke and smoke fire showing from roof, interior attack to start. Crews withdrawn after searches
completed. One firefighter injured due, struck by falling ceiling materials, while exiting structure. Transported to WakeMed
for observation. Ladder 2
with aerial stream, and exterior hand line operations. Caused by lightning strike, during period of severe
storms. First of three working fires. Fire also dispatched a second time, reported on different street.
Determined as same structure. Some units cleared scene to respond to other reported structure
fires. Photographer returned to scene, after chasing a couple other calls. Dispatched 4:45 p.m. Controlled 6:00 p.m.
Units on scene included E27, E19, E21, E15, E22, E7, L2, L5, R1, R2, B2, B1, A1,
C10, C20, EMS _, EMS _, D4. "C" platoon.
