Here\u2019s a picture of Cary Engine 9, a 2003 Pierce Dash 1250\/500. The town\u2019s ninth engine company was placed in service on December 14, when Engine 2 and Rescue 2 relocated from their prior quarters 875 S.E. Maynard Road at to a new station at 601 E. Engine 9 was previously Engine 6, which became a quint company on the same date, with Ladder 6 now operating as the engine. The now-named Station 9 was opened in 1976 and is a temporary location until a permanent engine house is erected at 1427 Walnut Street. Here\u2019s a photo tour<\/a>of Station 9, taken by Legeros last week.<\/p>\n

As for the engine, do you notice something interesting? No crosslays! Hand lines are deployed only from the rear and the bumper. Maybe readers can tell some of that history. (Or other unique aspects of CFD rigs.) We\u2019re also working on a fleet listing for Cary, to share the current active and reserve apparatus.<\/p>\n
