The new Engine 8 and Engine 15 were delivered on December 8.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The engines are the first pumper-tankers for the city,\u00a0and will serve at stations on the edge of the city that respond to areas without fire hydrants. They\u00a0answer calls with\u00a0county fire departments (Bahama, Lebanon, Redwood, and Durham County).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1559\" src=\"http:\/\/legeros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016-12-14-dfd3.jpg\" alt=\"2016-12-14-dfd3\" width=\"600\" height=\"193\" srcset=\"https:\/\/legeros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016-12-14-dfd3.jpg 600w, https:\/\/legeros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016-12-14-dfd3-300x97.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Durham Fire Department photo<\/p>\n<p>Equipped with 1000 gallon tanks instead of the typical 650 gallons&#8211;they switched from 500 gallons several years ago&#8211;the new engines are otherwise laid out the same. The rear roll-up compartment contains the booster reel, for example.
