Aug. 9, 1921 – P.154<\/p>\n

Contract for\u00a0 new Fire House with \u00a0J. T.\u00a0 Squires for\u00a0 $3,988. 18\u00a0 X\u00a0\u00a0 40\u00a0 ft. inside. Wall foundation \u00a0to\u00a0 be 21″ thick; \u00a01st story 13″ thick; 2nd\u00a0 story 8″ thick. 1st floor to\u00a0 be 4″\u00a0 concrete, 1\u00a0 part cement,\u00a0 3\u00a0 parts sand \u00a0& 5\u00a0 parts stone, etc. Stairway to\u00a0 be\u00a0 built in\u00a0 the\u00a0\u00a0 usual way, with\u00a0 rail and bolsters. All\u00a0 woodwork to have\u00a0 two\u00a0 coats\u00a0 of\u00a0 good\u00a0 paint.<\/p>\n

Plumbing:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Shower\u00a0 bath\u00a0\u00a0 of\u00a0 standard quality.\u00a0\u00a0 Vitreous\u00a0\u00a0 china toilet\u00a0 combination.\u00a0\u00a0 One\u00a0 enameled\u00a0\u00a0 iron\u00a0 sink with\u00a0 hose\u00a0 connection.\u00a0\u00a0 Sewer\u00a0 to\u00a0 be standard cast\u00a0 iron from\u00a0 house\u00a0 to\u00a0 main.<\/p>\n

Electric\u00a0 Wiring:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Nine\u00a0 electric lights to\u00a0 be installed .\u00a0 Wiring\u00a0 to\u00a0 be conduit.<\/p>\n

Middle of Columbia Street<\/strong><\/p>\n

Said fire station was built of brick. It was ordered erected in a meeting on August 4, 1921. The location was “the middle of Columbia Street just north of Rosemary Street.” The cost was approximately $4,000. Mayor J. S. Roberson appointed Dr. Pratt and M. W. Durham to serve with the Fire Committee as a Building Committee to “let contract and supervise construction.”<\/p>\n
