Chapel Hill had a 1980 model&#8230; that was almost a Seagrave. Here&#8217;s that story.<\/p>\n<p>After soliciting bids for a new pumping engine\u00a0that year, the town awarded the contract to Seagrave for $112,832.35. The other bidders were Central Mack Sales in Raleigh, Howe Fire Apparatus, Jack Cocke and Co. in Alabama, and Jack Slagle&#8217;s dealership in South Boston.<\/p>\n<p>One year later, the town learned that Seagrave had filed for bankruptcy. And no apparatus would be delivered. In December 1981, Central Mack Sales was awarded the revised\/replacement bid.<\/p>\n<div class=\"text_exposed_show\">\n<p>Price of $116,817 for model number CF 686F (12)-1398, which was a stock truck.
