Station 11 was reactivated early this afternoon, with Engine 11 and Ladder 2 relocating from their temporary quarters at Station 7 and Station 15, respectively. That is, the structural components. The new bays will be taller, and include a mezzanine. See below for project details. They&#8217;re operating a new aerial apparatus as well, former Ladder 9, a 2015 Pierce Arrow XT tiller, 1500\/200\/100-foot.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/legeros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018-12-06-rfd.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4058\" src=\"https:\/\/legeros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018-12-06-rfd.jpg\" alt=\"2018-12-06-rfd\" width=\"1000\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/legeros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018-12-06-rfd.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/legeros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018-12-06-rfd-300x240.jpg 300w, https:\/\/legeros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018-12-06-rfd-730x584.jpg 730w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>October 12<br \/>\n<strong>Site Plan, Floor Plans<\/strong><br \/>\nHere are floor plans and site plan for the renovations of Raleigh Fire Station 11 at 2925 Glenridge Road.\u00a0The long-planned project will update the\u00a01971 building and its systems.\u00a0This\u00a0is another &#8220;down to the walls&#8221; project,\u00a0like Station 2 and Station 5.\u00a0The project will also expand the apparatus area, to\u00a0accommodate a larger ladder truck.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The project was planned as early as 2011 and was funded in the FY2014 budget. Here&#8217;s a <a href=\"https:\/\/raleighfirenews.org\/pdf\/2014-vol4.pdf\" class=\"broken_link\">newsletter story from 2014<\/a>\u00a0(PDF). <del>See page six.<\/del> Some things have changed since that time, including a revised project scope (and resulting design) and the future ladder truck to be assigned to Station 11.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legeros.com\/ralwake\/gallery\/stations\/sta11-glenridge-2012-mjl.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.legeros.com\/ralwake\/gallery\/stations\/sta11-glenridge-2012-mjl.jpg\" width=\"600\" border=\"1\" \/><br \/>\n<\/a>Legeros photo from 2012<\/p>\n<p>Notable additions include an enclosed laundry room and fitness room, accessed from the enlarged apparatus area. That space will also include a mechanical mezzanine, above the laundry and fitness rooms. (It&#8217;s not shown in plans excerpt below.)<\/p>\n<p>Also the sleeping areas will be reconfigured, expanding that space and adding an office for the company officers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Work will be starting soon. Ladder 2\u00a0will move to Station 15 at the end of the month. They&#8217;re receiving old Ladder 4,\u00a0a 2017 Pierce Arrow XT tiller, 1500\/300\/100-foot.
