And while providing fire protection to the rest of the town during the same period?<\/p>\n<p>They answered the challenge with a detailed incident action plan (IAP), and extensive mutual aid from neighboring city and county fire departments. And with a certain fire photographer in tow!<\/p>\n<p>Their IAP divided the town into two operational divisions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Division I Everywhere in town, except the downtown event area.<\/li>\n<li>Division II Downtown event area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-610\" src=\"http:\/\/legeros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016-04-11-unc2.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"404\" srcset=\"https:\/\/legeros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016-04-11-unc2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/legeros.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016-04-11-unc2-300x202.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/legeros.com\/ralwake\/photos\/2016-04-04-chfd-game\/\">See more photos by Mike Legeros<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>Downtown<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The downtown event area was defined as eight blocks of Franklin Street commercial and mixed-use residential district, with numerous restaurants and bars plus four blocks of Columbia Street, which add college buildings to the mix. Those were further divided into five sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Each sector was assigned:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strike Team Three or more firefighters on foot, primarily for fire prevention\/suppression, and equipped with water extinguishers.<\/li>\n<li>Task Force Team Two fire, two EMS, two law enforcement members.
