building in 500 block of Pershing Road. |

1948 - Alexander Welding closes McDowell Street
location and consolidates operations on Pershing Road.
Also that year, Edward Alexander obtains first patent,
for a logging cart design. He's granted a second patent
in 1953, for a truck hoist design. |

1951 - Edward Alexander dies and his wife Nancy begins
running Alexander Welding. |

1952, April - Alexander Welding featured in News &
Observer. They build custom truck bodies, including tank bodies.
They also perform repairs on their products, and general
wielding repairs on other items. They have 20 employees, and
one-of-a-kind machines for steel work. They can make 400 truck
tanks and 50 tractor-drawn tank trailers during year, along with
their repair work. They also don't have any salesmen, but have
representatives at companies across the southeast. They are
strictly a family business. Son Douglas O. Alexander is the
company's designer and is responsible for all engineering and
drafting work. |

in Raleigh are incorporated. The incorporates are Nancy Alexander
and sons Douglas O. Alexander, Joseph E. Alexander, and Thomas
W. Alexander.

1962, July - After the city annexes the areas around
Pershing Road, Alexander Welding acquires 10.94 acres of
land on Highway 1, at the present address 4900 Capital
Boulevard. The company relocates from Pershing Road, but Nancy
Alexander retains ownership of the Pershing Road
properties, and the buildings are rented to other
tenants. |

1972, Oct - Atlas Steel Products announces
partnership with Southern Pump & Tank Company (SPATCO)
in September-October 1972 advertisement in Hose & Nozzle
magazine.

1979 February - Lease granted to W. H. Dhail
Plumping for 518 Pershing Road, from 2/1/79 to 1/31/84.

|
1980, December - Nancy Alexander dies. The Pershing
Road properties is transferred to a trust, for care of
daughter Nancy Anne Alexander.

1981, July - Alexander Welding dissolved as corporate entity.
The officers are President and Secretary William H. Alexander,
Vice President Joseph E. Alexander, Treasurer D. E. Butler,
Director Thomas W. Alexander, and Director James. W. Alexander.
The property on Highway 1 is sold in 1982 and the company's assets
are reported liquidated in 1983. |

1982, November - Atlas Steel Products attempts to sell
property 1818 New Hope Church Road for $750,000. The sale
apparently fails, as additional sale attempts are recorded again
in November ($1,025,000) and April 1983 ($250,000). |

to Atlas Fire Apparatus, though doesn't file the change
with the state until 1985. |

1999, May – Emergency Equipment Inc. (EEI) closes,
unexpectedly on May 18. Workers are told abruptly that they have
one hour to remove their belongs. Several departments are left
in the lurch, with pending production orders that they already
paid for. They later learn that the company wasn’t bonded. News reports that the Centura Bank in Rocky Mounty foreclosed on
the business, due to EEI having defaulted on payments. A public
auction was planned to sell tools, office equipment, and other
inventory. No apparatus at the company would be auctioned (at
that time). At the time of its closure, the company had about
