Stay Away

This weekend, I had a bad experience at the Carmike 7 Cinemas, in
Raleigh. Some of the problems I experienced:

  1. Trailers that were threaded "upside down" and, subsequently,
     had to be skipped.

  2. Having to tell the management to correct the focus on *three*
separate occasions (in the first fifteen-minutes of the film!)

  3. A projection problem in mid-film that caused both a ten-minute
delay and a focus problem that could not be corrected for the
     rest of the film.

Most patrons would, probably, label this "kaka occurs." For me, this was
the straw that broke my camel's back. By my estimate, I've seen around
200 films in Raleigh and Cary over the last two years. Many of those
were at the Carmike. Thus, I think I have ample evidence to endorse my
recommendation. Or, lack thereof.

For me, the Carmike 7 has always been a "last resort." In addition to
perpetual projection problems, the management is very unaccommodating.
Never ask for a refund after the film is finished. Even if you had to
wait or endure undue hardship. (Like seeing a third of THE REF sans
focus!)

If memory serves, I asked for a refund on the very *first* film I saw at
that theater. For sound problems. The more things change...
