Mighty Aphrodite (1995)

Mira Sorvino (BARCELONA) is the hooker with a heart of gold in MIGHTY
APHRODITE, the year's ritual fall delight from director Woody Allen.
She's a high-pitched variation of the Jennifer Tilly character from
BULLETS OVER BROADWAY; more fleshed-out and *far* more foul-mouthed.  (Oh,
to hear the f-word uttered within Allen's clean, controlled world.)  The
very talented Sorvino plays a former porn star, stage name Judy Cum, who
is the mother of the boy that Lenny Weinrib (Allen) and his wife (Helena
Bonham Carter) have adopted.  (He's a sportswriter, she's a gallery owner,
and neither has enough time for a family.)  The fun begins when Lenny
becomes increasingly obsessed with meeting, and, later, reforming his
son's birth-mother.  Hilarious.

Grade: B+
