HIGH SCHOOL HIGH is another everything-but-the-kitchen-sink spoof from David Zucker, who is (and will remain) better known for his work on AIRPLANE!, TOP SECRET!, and the NAKED GUN movies. He co- wrote and produced this slim send-up of DANGEROUS MINDS, with Jon Lovitz as the inner-city teacher determined to make a difference. This is the first starring role for Lovitz, whose slippery wit is undermined by an understocked script. (More gags please.) That the tone is more serious than silly doesn't help. Co-star Louise Fletcher has some fun as the tough-as-a-Ratchet principal, but Tia Carrere's love interest should've been left on the cutting room floor. She doesn't have a funny bone in her body.
