MICHAEL COLLINS is billed as an Epic Historical Drama, but it's really just another war movie, albeit one played at half-speed. Liam Neeson plays the title character, an Irish revolutionary who changed the course of history by introducing guerrilla warfare to the IRA in the 1900's. The acting is impressive (though I'm not sure about all the accents) and director Neil Jordan (INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE) stages some bloody good battles. I just wish the characters had enough resonance to interest me in watching them. My companion was the smart one; she left after an hour. (Rated "R"/138 min.) Grade: C+ Copyright 1996 by Michael J.
