This playfully cute revenge fantasy stars Meg Ryan and Matthew Broderick as a pair of jilted lovers, who take to stalking their shacked-up ex-spouses (Frenchman Tcheky Karyo and JERRY MAGUIRE's Kelly Preston) for the purposes of revenge and reconciliation. (She wants his blood, he wants her back.) As directed by actor Griffin Dunne, making his feature-film debut, this comedy has many charms, the least of which is Ryan playing against type as a tough- talking biker chick. (Broderick is his usual sock-it-to-me self and Ryan gets to have great fun jerking his character's chain. Such as with her maggot-infested definition of love.) Everything falls apart in the last half-hour, however, but that's about the norm these days. And, any summer movie that pays homage to REAR WINDOW and MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 in the same scene is worth at least a peek through the keyhole. BTW, that's Griffin's father Dominick as the restaurant critic. (Rated "R"/101 min.) Grade: C+ Copyright 1997 Michael J. Legeros Movie Hell is a trademark of Michael J. Legeros
