The San Diego sequence of THE LOST WORLD is ripe with in-jokes and
other references. Here's what some of the eagle-eyed readers of
rec.arts.movies.current-films have spotted:
o dino crashes through U.S. Customs sign that reads "no plants,
vegetables, or animals past this point"
o Asian tourists running in fear, looking over their shoulders.
Obvious nod to GODZILLA
o T-Rex versus bus. Boat arriving post-haste. Nods to SPEED and
SPEED 2?
o screenwriter (and second unit director) David Koepp is the guy
who gets eaten in front of video store. He's later listed in
the credits as "Unlucky Bastard"
o inside of said store, stuff promoting Arnold Schwarzenegger in
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE'S KING LEAR, Robin Williams in JACK AND THE
BEANSTALKS, and Tom Hanks in TSUNAMI SUNRISE
o as T-Rex passes a basketball goal, his right claw dribbles an
imaginary ball
o a street sign on the edge of the frame that reads:
NO
DINOSAURS
SKATING
SKATEBOARDING
What did you catch?
