GANG RELATED is about a pair of corrupt cops (Jim Belushi and the late Tupac Shakur) who like to dip into the evidence locker. Dope, to deal to dealers, and handguns, to kill the dealers and snatch back the smack. Their scheme to MAKE MONEY FAST goes south, when they gun down an undercover DEA agent and, the next morning, find themselves assigned to the case. Needless to say, Detectives Mutt and Jeff have to scramble to find a fall guy, before the FBI comes crawling up their butts. And, when they coerce a confession out of a homeless man (Dennis Quaid), they soon find that their problems have only just begun. GANG RELATED wants to be both a gritty gang- sta drama and the darkest of dark comedies, but a conflicting tone and an utter lack of believability instead render things ridicu- lous. I stayed with it for an hour, but couldn't come up with a single reason to continue watching. Tupac is good, though. (Rated "R"/111 min.) Grade: W/O Copyright 1997 Michael J.
