The writing and directing debut of actor Vondie Curtis Hall (WIL- LIAM SHAKESPEARE'S ROMEO & JULIET, BROKEN ARROW) is the story of two junkies (Tim Roth and the late Tupac Shakur) who decide to kick the habit, only to find the road to recovery laden with var- ious (and, at times, hilarious) potholes. The acting is strong and the atmosphere is appropriately skanky, though these ninety minutes often *creep* by. Yup, a long sit, but stay through the end, so you don't miss a sequence with Roth trying to stab Shakur with a pen knife, so they can gain admission into an emergency room. That's a bit as funny as anything I've seen so far this year. Grade: B- Copyright 1997 by Michael J. Legeros
