JACK FROST bites, but not at first. Early scenes are diverting due to the strong chemistry between the leads and a staggering amount of snow on screen. The pop songs on the soundtrack are promptly distracting, but the animatronic effects are very good, so they sorta cancel each other out. What really melts enjoyment are the increasingly implausible (if not downright ridiculous) plot points (small dog pulls large snowman?) and one of *the* sin- gle worst heart-tugging-times-ten endings that I can recall. Even the misty-eyed members of the audience were complaining about that one... Michael Keaton, Kelly Preston, and Joseph Cross star. THE FULL MONTY's Mark Addy also appears, for no good reason. Troy Mller directs from a script credited to four folks. (Rated "PG"/ 101 min.) Grade: D+ Copyright 1998 Michael J. Legeros Movie Hell is a trademark of Michael J. Legeros
