The Parent Trap (1998)

THE PARENT TRAP is the latest remake from Charles Meyer and Nancy
Shyer, the husband-and-wife writing/producing/directing team who 
also updated both FATHER OF THE BRIDE and FATHER'S LITTLE DIVIDEND.  
(The latter was filmed as FATHER OF THE BRIDE PART II.)  Predictab-
ly pleasant on every. single. front., PT98 is family fare at its 
finest.  (That is, until you consider the cruelty of such a sibling 
separation.)  Yeah, I was bored, but it was fun to hear the shrieks 
of younger audience members during a graphic ear-piercing sequence.  
(Think the Disney equivalent of the PULP FICTION syringe scene!)  I 
stayed long enough to get my Natasha Richardson fix and left.  With 
Dennis Quaid, Lisa Ann Walter, Simon Kunz, Elaine Hendrix, Ronnie 
Stevens, and, as the twins, talented TV vet Lindsay Lohan.  (Rated 
"PG"/124 min.)
