TASTE OF CHERRY is a long sit. The listless pacing is a refreshing change... until the story starts to repeat itself. (Plot: man drives around outskirts of Tehran, searching for somone to help him commit suicide.) Cannes winner or not, it didn't hold the interest of this Westerner. Weird coda, too, that bumps the viewer into video foot- age of the filmmaking. Huh? Written, directed, and produced by Abbas Kiarostami. In Farsi with English subtitles. (Not rated/103 min.)
