All About My Mother (1999)

ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER is a dandy drama from Spain, about a single mom
(Cecilia Roth) struggling to get a grip on her grief, after her son
is killed in a car accident on his 17th birthday. She moves to Bar-
celona, to find his long-estranged father, and in the process pairs
up with a transvestite hooker (Antonia San Juan), a pregnant nun
(Penelope Cruz), and a lesbian stage actress (Marisa Paredes). Sounds
racy but is far from it. Writer/director Pedro Almodovar's seemingly
flamboyant film is a rather sweet and simply-drawn story of mothers
and mothering and, well, Bette Davis...
