Black Mask (1999)

Kicks ass.  This immensely enjoyable, over-the-top, and, yes, ultravio-
lent super-soldier/superhero/cops-versus-drug-lords/good-guys-win-and-
even-get-the-girl Asian actioner from 1996 stars Jet Li, last seen in
LETHAL WEAPON 4.  He's incredible.  Decent dubbing makes this one par-
ticularly easy to follow, though it wouldn't hurt to bone up on your
masked crime-fighter conventions ahead of time.  With Karen Mok, Fran-
coise Yip and Lau Ching Wan.  Daniel Lee directs.  Tsui Hark produces.
