The Mummy (1999)

            
THE MUMMY, a prequel to THE DADDY, is writer/director Stephen Som-
mer's FX-intensive, action-oriented, goosing-but-bloodless update of
the 1932 horror classic.  A great cast, grand scenery, and a ton of
comic asides are just *some* of the highlights here.  Too bad the
whole thing is at least 30 minutes too long.  You'll have fun until
your eyes glaze over...  With Brendan Fraser, John Hannah, Rachel 
Weisz, and Arnold Vosloo as the title character.  (Rated "PG-13"/
126 min.)
