GRASS, man, is a pokey, stock footage-silly documentary about mari- juana and the wacky weed's role in a near-century's worth of drug wars. It's also the cinematic equivalent of a PowerPoint presenta- tion, dig?, with countless pauses, zero momentum, and what's gotta be ten-or-more minutes of title cards. Man. Director dude Ron Wells, whether intentional or otherwise, practically ends up emulat- ing the comic lethargy of the same educational films he excepts. Ergo and despite the wide variety of inter-cut footage-- would you believe clips of Cab Calloway, Gene Krupa, and... Sonny Bono?-- the movie moves like, well, someone stoned. I toked for forty or fifty minutes until my *companion* asked if we could leave. Er, blow the joint. See it for medicinal purposes only. Fifth Stooge Hemp, AKA Woody Harrelson, narrates.
