09/12/09 56 W - + 16 - 8 Southeastern Fire & Rescue Expo in Raleigh, August 1987 ?

Does anyone remember an event in Raleigh called the Southeastern Fire & Rescue Expo? Held at the Fairgrounds, in August, 1987. One person remembers it was held, or planned to be held, for two or three consecutive years. Another person remembers it as a one-time deal. Any help is appreciated.

I remember the event, I know it was for one year not sure if any more than that. I went to the event that was sponsored by Southeastern Emergency Equipment and went all times they had it. Check with Donald Pleasants with SEE for details. Also Steve Acai that was with NCOEMS might have some pictures of the event. I remember a huge rescue truck from Maryland was there that was something/

Don’t remember the name exactly, but there was an expo. I remember because Zebulon’s ladder was on display.

Reader David R. remembers attending fire expos at the Fairgrounds in August 1987 and May 1988. He’ll look through his pictures for specific dates.

Update on this. Found dates mentioned for a National Fire Expo at the Fairgrounds, April 1 to April 3, 1987. The same animal?

And found another set of dates for 1988, Southeastern Fire/Rescue Expo 88, April 22-23 of that year. Held at Fairgrounds.

I just came across this page in 2019. I am, right now, looking at a mug that says: “1st Annual Southeastern Fire/Rescue Expo ’87 May 1-3, 1987 Raleigh, NC”. I did a search and it took me to this page. I was at that expo. We had a booth there promoting our rope rescue training. I’m not sure if it was that expo or another where we had our ropes hanging from the trusses and we would simulate rescues at our booth. Wow, that was a long time ago. Oh, to be that limber again! I know this is an old thread, but I hope this message reaches someone and brightens their day thinking about our youth.
