03/12/11 72 W, 1 I - + 7 - 6 Aerial Photos of Bronx Bus Accident

The ABC7 web site has posted aerial photos of this morning's multi-fatality tour bus accident on the New England Thruway in New York City. The pictures reveal the scope of the response, with both FDNY and NYPD Emergency Services units. Multiple engine, ladder, squad, and rescue companies, plus other units. It would be interesting to see the run card.

My resources are still reporting but what I see at the moment is the Initial was 2 & 2 plus BN-20. Due to numerous calls dispatcher added R-3, SQ-61 & L-61 to the box. BN-20 confirmed an overturned bus with numerous injuries,additional Rescue (4) & Collapse Rig/L-27 requested. At the signal 7-5 all hands L32 Fast, B27 and RAC 3 were added. Then this is an approx. rundown from there:

B20: Special request 2 additional trucks, mixer off.

D7: Request 2 additional CFR-D engines

Disp confirmed to Rescue Battalion that second rescue (R4) was assigned to the box.

Car 13 adam (AC Richard Tobin, Assistant Chief of Fire Prevention) responding to the overturned bus.

06:25 hours incident duration 47 minutes
D7: 20 people removed from the bus, attempting to remove the rest. Continuing to use all hands, incident is doubtfull will hold.

FC: Division 7 requests an expedited reponse by Con-ed.

FC: New England southbound at Hudson River Parkway. Division 7 reports extrication still in progress. 12 black tag, 5 red tag, 4 yellow tag and 9 green tag.

FC: Major casualty MVA involving an overturned bus, New England southbound at Hudson River Parkway. Division 7 reports 32 victims removed from the bus. 13 black tag, 6 red, 2 yellow and 11 green. Probably will hold.

07:01 hours duration 1 hour and 24 minutes
FC: Major casualty MVA involving an overturned bus, New England southbound at Hudson River Parkway. Car 13 adam reports 32 victims removed from the bus. Secondary searches are complete and negative, incident is now under control.
