The picture of the firehouse is the old quarters of Engine 8. Shortly after Engine 8 moved out, a medic unit was placed there. In ’98, Durham had an old 2 man cab Chevrolet (?) lime green pumper, that was still in service as a reserve, and I got to ride tailboard!! That lasted about 3 hours until admin. found out we were riding tailboard and that was stopped. It was fun while it lasted!

Hey Jeff those were the days.I remember riding that piece also out at sta. 10 a few times,however I did get the pleasure of riding tailboard,only in full turnouts on the 2nd shift out due to the Capt’s orders.Was not much fun on trips to the store.
