08/05/12 32 W, 2 I - + 6 - 4 Then & Now - Station 3

What differences do you observe in these photos of Raleigh Fire Station 3 from 1954 and today? Other than the position of the camera, that is. Click to enlarge:

The only big difference I notice is the addition of a rack to hang mops.

The windows are different. There looks to be an a/c unit at the rear. Upper deck at the rear. Tree has grown up, along with the fence present and the landscaping out at the street. Plus there use to be an ALF 700 series pumper and what looks like the front of the ALF 400 series pumper in there. I remember during the late 60s when the last ALF 900 series was placed there for a while (even with the number ‘10’ on it) and the 1950 FWD pumper was also kept there. My Cub Scout troop visited this station on a Saturday afternoon when the #10 ALF and the old FWD were there. They fed us lunch that day (Jesse Jones hot dogs on the grill), let us slide down the pole, and they hooked up a ‘huge hoseline’ and let us spray water into the street.
