Structure Fire – N. McDowell and Hillsborough streets
Dispatched 10:38 p.m.
Report of smoking embers on roof of the Sacred Heart Cathedral. Car 14
arrived first, and confirmed same. Engine 10 extinguished with booster line,
and, with ground ladders, wet down the entire side of the roof. They also
checked the roof of the educational building, beside the church.

Vegetation Fire - 115 W. Morgan Street
Dispatched 10:44
p.m.Reported by police, who found a small mulch fire started by flying
embers. Police officer was using chemical extinguisher when Engine 17
arrived. They extinguished with booster line, and checked for any remaining
fire.
Structure Fire – 104 Hillsborough St.
Dispatched 10:56 p.m.Reported by Engine 21, who spotted a fire on the roof of the First Baptist
Church. They
requested a ladder truck, to reach the roof. They found burned leaves on the
roof, ignited by flying embers. They swept the remaining leaves off the roof,
and checked the interior of the building for any hot spots. None were found.
