On December 30, 1911, Fire Chief Walter Woolcott was thrown from his horse-drawn buggy at the corner of Hillsboro Street. He was responding to an alarm from Box 24 at East and Davie streets shortly after midnight. On December 21, 1912, a Capital Hose Company wagon Hose wagon collided with a street car at the intersection of Martin and Blount Streets.
