North Carolina State University was plagued with a string of suspicious fires in the spring of 1965, the largest of which burned the beloved 63-year-old Pullen Hall on February 22, 1965. Nearby Peele Hall was damaged and Watauga Hall, a girl's dormitory, was evacuated as hot embers struck the roof. An 18-year-old ex-student later admitted to setting this and seven other fires.
