History:
- Delivered with rebuilt 1916 American LaFrance Type 17
aerial ladder by December 16, 1939, when City Council
was told that it has
been "rebuilt according to specifications, tried out, and found
satisfactory." The $9,000 rebuild was authorized on September 8, 1939. A photo of the refurbished apparatus appeared in the March
10, 1940 edition of the News & Observer.
- Moved to reserve status in May 1958, when replaced with a newer apparatus
in May 1958.
- Retired by 1974, and parked behind Station 8.
- Sold in 1980 or later, to a private
party that stored the truck outdoors in Apex.
- Sold in spring 2008 to a
Johnston County auction company, and sold to a private party in Angier.
