On August 5, 2020, Engine 21 was struck by a semi truck as it arrived at a
working vehicle fire on Interstate 87 at New Hope Road. The collision occurred
about 11:53 a.m. There were no injuries to the firefighters or truck driver. The
2002 Spartan/Quality pumper suffered significant damage. Engine 11 was also
dispatched and worked the fire with Engine 10, which was requested, along with
Engine 12, requested to assist with the collision. Battalion 2 and Ladder 8 were
also on scene.
In June 2022, the engine was sold for scrap to T T & E Iron & Metal in
Garner, after the engine was pulled for use in another engine.
