Chemical Engines In 1878, a hand-drawn Champion single-tank chemical engine was acquired by the Phoenix Chemical Company. In 1881, a hand-drawn Champion double-tank chemical engine was acquired. In 1886, the double-tank engine was converted to be horse drawn. The fire company disbanded by 1890 and the remaining service life of the engines is not known.
