History: Station 23 opened on February 15, 2000 at
8312 Pinecrest Road in the Leesville community. Engine 23 was placed in
service a 1981 Mack pumper. The station was built in 1978 by the Durham Highway
Volunteer Fire Department. The city occupied the facility in 2000. The station
was expanded in 2005, with additional sleeping and living areas for a second
company. Durham Highway Volunteer Fire Department has also continued to store
apparatus at the station.
Station 23 housed a ladder company from 2006 to 2009 and from
2018 to present, a Battalion Chief from 2009 to 2018, and a mini pumper from 2009
to 201_.
