History: When the newly organized, fully-paid Raleigh
Fire Department was placed in service on December 23, 1912, the office of the
Fire Chief was located at Station 1 at at 112 West Morgan
Street. On August 12, 1941, Station 1 relocated to old Station 2 at
412 South Salisbury Street.
On October 5, 1953, Station 1 relocated to 220 South Dawson
Street. The new Central Fire Station included offices for both the Fire
Administration and Fire Prevention divisions, created in fiscal year 1950-51.
In
May 1982, Fire Administration relocated to the Keeter Training Center at 105
West Hoke Street. In 1984, Fire Administration relocated to the fourth floor
of the Municipal Building at 222 West Hargett Street.
In November 1991,
both Fire Administration and Fire Prevention relocated to the sixth floor of the Professional Building at 127 West Hargett Street.
In January 1994, both divisions relocated to the second floor of the Dillon
Building at 310 West Martin Street.
