History: Located
near the Neuse River in northeast Raleigh, Station
27 opened on June 9, 2003 at 5916 Buffaloe Road. Engine 27 was placed in service with a 1985 Pirsch
pumper. The $850,000 facility was dedicated on June 19, 2003. It is located
adjacent to Buffaloe Road Athletic Park.
Engine 27 operates a 1999 Quality/Spartan pumper. It also staffs Haz-Mat 2, which was moved to Station 27 on April 1, 2012. The 1995 International/Hackney tractor-drawn haz-mat unit is part of North Carolina Hazardous Materials Regional Response Team

On October 27, 2018, Haz-Mat 1 was moved from Station 27 to 29, and
Haz-Mat 5 and the foam trailer was moved from Station 18 to Station 27.
