History: On October 8, 2004, the Services Division and the
fire department shop began moving into a new Services Support Center at 4120 New Bern Avenue.
The 13,018-square-foot, $1,117,123 addition to the city's heavy equipment depot
replaced earlier facilities at Station 2
and Station 8. It was dedicated
on November 10, 2004.
In 2012, a four-bay, prefabricated apparatus storage building was added. In
2016, eight vehicle lifts were added in the shop, which greatly expanded repair
capabilities. In 2017, a service counter and pass-through window was added,
between the maintenance bays and the parts storage room, to improve work flows.
